Sour Cream Pound Cake

We have some wonderful cooks living at Wesley Woods of Newnan! Here, Betty Walthall shares her special recipe for a delicious pound cake. Try it warm, with a cup of coffee or hot tea on a chilly winter afternoon.

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Ingredients:

2 sticks margarine or butter
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
8 ounces sour cream
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325°.
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar.
Add one egg at a time to butter mixture, beating well after each addition.
In separate bowl, sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
Add flour mixture, alternating with sour cream, to butter mixture.
Add vanilla and mix well.
Pour batter into a prepared tube pan and bake for 1-1/4 hours.
